I hope that everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving with your loved ones! I know I did and I am so thankful for you, my readers. This week it was only appropriate to shoot in front of the Mayflower in Plymouth, MA. Dressing for any holiday can be stressful and we tend to find ourselves over indulging. Two obstacles that are common in holiday dressing include spending money on something you may only wear once and trying to feel fabulous after that extra slice of pie. Rarely, I find myself purchasing items I will only wear once because I try to get the most wear for my money. I constantly remind myself and clients of cost per wear meaning, that if a dress cost $50 and it is worn 10 times the item has cost you only $5 per wear. The beauty behind this shopping tactic is that you can change the look of that dress with accessories to give it a completely different ambiance. The dress pictured I have worn to Thanksgiving but, I have also worn it to work, shopping, or lunch with the girls. I have it dressed up with wedged suede booties but, can easily transform it to casual wear with a pair of flat boots, a scarf, and a tote.
Holidays usually involve drinking and eating too much which can make anyone feel bloated. Ruching is my saving grace, this is when the fabric is pleated typically flattering your midsection. This dress pleats through the waist, gathering at the side cinching in my waist. Ruching will give you the look of a thinner waist. The empire waist is also a good alternative because it comes in under the bust and flares at the bottom giving the wearer an hourglass shape. The holidays can be a crazy time, dressing for it does not have to be. Shop for holiday ensembles that you can wear more than once and make sure that you feel comfortable in them. When you don't feel comfortable in what you are wearing it does show. I always tell my customers if you don't absolutely love it don't get it. Flatter your body and be fabulous!
