Creating Outfit Interest by Mixing Textures

You are as beautiful as the flowers in May. Welcome friends! Happy Friday & happy May! A new month is always exciting, it brings new goals & possibilities. May is also my birthday month! Today’s post I was feeling particularly inspired by a purchase I made at Sloane & Ivy. Both of these items are sold out but I will link some similar items at the bottom. If you get a chance I do highly recommend checking out Sloane & Ivy, their assortment is unique. The owner focuses on filling her store with women owned, made in the US, sustainable, and/or brands that give back.

Let’s break down this look. Mixing textures seems to be a “trend” these days but personally I’m just really obsessed with the concept. What is “mixing textures”? Well its combining items with a different feel for example this sweater is a cozy blend for spring whereas this skirt has more of a silky hand. This makes it a good look while the weather figures itself out. The sweater will keep you warmer because of the rain we have been experiencing in the North East but the skirt gives it a spring touch. I completed this look simply with some nude pumps, black clutch, & a smile.

You can also dress something like this down by changing your shoe! I am going to be wearing this outfit this weekend with my vans to a conference so I can be chic yet comfortable. Mixing textures can be done with other articles of clothing too! Like pairing a lace dress with a leather jacket or pants with linen top. The possibilities are endless when it comes to fashion! Which can be kind of overwhelming but I hope this post gave you some great ideas to practice on your own! Well babes, I have to go pack! Till next time!
