3 Tips For Dressing Cute Comfortable For The Holidays

Hi babes! I hope your week is going well & you are all ready for the upcoming holiday! Today our Social Media Marketing Intern, Sarah is serving up 3 of her favorite tips to dress cute yet leave some room for dessert. Enjoy!

After all the craziness of preparing for the holiday season, the last thing we want to worry about is having an uncomfortable outfit. Picking out the perfect look is hard enough, yet alone coming up with one that looks nice for family photos but leaves some wiggle room when you are ready for dessert. Here are some tips on balancing a comfortable outfit without being too casual!

1. Trade in the basic sweater for a poncho

Ponchos are the first runner up on my list when it comes to a cute but relaxed look. Instead of the generic pullover sweater or cardigan, the same purpose is served with some more movement. On top of being totally adorable, a shawl like poncho is so practical for traveling. Having one on makes me feel like I’m wrapped in a blanket! These are great especially if you have a long car ride ahead to make it your holiday plans. Since ponchos are a bit bulky I like to pair mine with something tighter underneath like a fitted turtleneck.

2. Opt for shorts instead of a skirt

As much fun as getting glammed up for parties is, sometimes skirts just aren’t the best choice. After all, you don’t want to be worried all night about moving in the wrong direction and accidentally flashing the whole family! One of my favorite alternatives is to wear shorts in place of a skirt. This might seem like a big no-no at first but styled appropriately you won’t look like you are wearing an outfit for the wrong climate. Shorts can break up the flatness of a typical winter outfit and even give the illusion of a skirt from a distance. The best way to style shorts in the winter (in my opinion) is to add opaque tights for warmth. If the rest of your outfit is simple patterned tights are always cute too!

3. Wear over-the-knee boots

I’ve been the queen of the over-the-knee boot for years now and don’t ever plan on giving them up. Not only are they adorable and totally in trend, but they keep your legs warm! When wearing shorts or a skirt in the winter, you have to find a way to keep warm. Not only will most of your legs be covered, you can throw on some chunky socks underneath that no one will see! I generally chose a heel to make my outfit a little dressier, but a flat boot is great as well.

The holiday season always sneaks up on us so fast and leaves little time for outfit catastrophes. But don’t be scared to experiment! Experimenting with looks that are comfortable yet warm doesn’t have to be intimidating. Before trying out this look I was thinking I would be too casual but paired right you don’t have to compromise comfort for style! Wishing everyone comfy and happy holiday season!
