How to Make Tonal Dressing Work

Hola Bonitas! Happy Friday! I hope that you have had a great week. Personally, I’m excited to have a long weekend. Today we are talking how to pull off tonal dressing. Tonal meaning different levels of similar colors.

Now this outfit is a whole lot of color for me, typically my closet consists of black. This look has gotten me out of my fashion comfort zone. I got the inspiration for this look at a design presentation at work, the tonal look presented was more in the cool tones but I figured why not go warm! I started this look around the skirt which I love, it’s from J.Crew. On the top I added this rust color sweater. Now the skirt is mustard & the sweater is rust, these colors are different levels the warm color family.

I did ground this look with black tights & boots. The brown hat also works because it plays off the rust beautifully while also working with the neutral block heel of the boot. There is a lot of color here but it is all working & balanced.

Well babes, that is all I have got for this week! I hope you are feeling inspired to try this trend for yourself. This photo shoot was super fun because we made some friends along the way. Till next time!

This has become one of my favorite winter outfits! Do you have a couple items in your closet that will allow you to make a tonal look of your own? Why not give it a try for yourself! Tonal dressing is definitely something you can practice year round.
