Spilling all the Details about my Peloton

Happy Friday Eve, family! I hope you are having a great day whenever/wherever you are reading this! Today I want to spill the tea on all the things about my Peloton experience so far. I remember when quarantine first hit, my husband looked at me & was like “You need a hobby”. Coming from a place of love of course, all my hoodies were shut down which included the gym! I ran the numbers for the Peloton & compared them to what I was previously paying to make sure it made financial sense, we pulled the trigger, & 3 weeks later the bike arrived! Fun fact: my dad used to be a spin instructor, I am convinced spinning is in my blood.

Price

Prior to quarantine & the increased demand in at home workouts I was spending $150 per month on fitness. I had a gym membership to Fit Factory $30/month & was going to a local barre studio which I had an 8 class pass $120/month. When we got the original bike back in April we chose the middle tire package. This included the bike, 1 pair of shoes, headphones, & 1 pair of weights. We ended up financing the bike which ended up being $62/month & you have to get the membership for the classes as well which is $39/month. We are paying $50 less each month then my original workout routine & my husband also uses it!

If you are interested in the bike think about it. Say you pay $15 per typical class & that is low balling it these days x 3 times a week x 4 weeks= $180 a month for 1 person! I’m just sharing my experience but, this was not only a great idea for our overall health but, financially too. We are ALL at different places in life & at the end of the day you know what is best for you. So, do that!

Classes

Before I got my bike Peloton was offering 3 MONTHS of their app for free! So, I dipped my toe with their other classes first. You can now try the app 30 days free. They have a wide library of classes you can choose from that are not just on the bike. They have strength workouts (with/without weights), yoga, stretching, running, AND more! For cycling you can also choose from one of their many classes ranging, I’ve done from 20-60minutes or you can take a scenic ride which is pretty cool.

Personally, I shoot to ride 4-5 times per week & add strength 2-3 times per week. The app keeps track of your workouts which is nice because I feel like I’m always trying to beat my numbers from the last class. While, taking a class you can see either all who have taken or select here now & you can give your fellow virtual classmates high fives! There is a class schedule so you can take a live class as well if that tickles your fancy & works with your schedule.

Equipment

The bike itself is SUPER easy to move. My husband has moved it on his own but, we’ve also moved it together. Originally, it was in my office but, I was stuck in 1 room ALL DAY working from home & riding after. Then we moved it into the spare bedroom but, then we had guests so we moved it into the living room which is pictured here. All that to say we have moved it 3 times without yelling “PIVOT” like Ross from friends. The bike comes with the screen & clips. As mentioned earlier, you have the option to pick different packages. We used a mat I already had in the house, the mat isn’t necessary but it prevents us from sweating on the floor.

You need the clip-in shoes whether you get Peloton’s or just order from elsewhere. Weights are nice because they have some spin & arms rides. We got the 1 set of weights with our package but, we also had different variety of weights as well so we went with a weight we didn’t already have. I like to keep a little tote by the bike which holds towels to wipe the sweat during class, Ricky’s shoes, disinfecting wipes to clean down after, & any other accessories i.e. headphones.

Closing

Overall, we have been pretty pleased with the bike. I don’t really have anything negative to say about it other than I wish I could move the screen. Peloton just launched their bike+ which you will be able to move the screen at different angles to better view those floor strength classes. We will be looking to trade in however, I need to research it a little more.

PS. I’m rocking my pineapple BoldBody Apparel!
